The Shields Agency began “shielding your future” in 1931 when my grandfather, Nay “Red” Shields founded the business. My father, James, joined him in 1956, and I bought the business in 1992 making me the 3rd generation to own the family business.

As an independent agent, we work with over 10 companies in order to build custom coverage for our clients. Insurance is only as good as the agent, and we want you, the clients, to have the best protection, with the best price possible, and we work hard every day to accomplish this.

Here at Shields Insurance, it has been such a benefit joining the Summit Insurance Group. It brings together a good group of agents that are really able to increase profit sharing over what each individual agent can bring in on their own. Considering the fact that you are not under stress to have a certain amount of volume with a company in order to obtain profit sharing, it really helps you maintain company contracts that you probably wouldn’t have because of the volume commitments.
